Hanshin Tigers

Shinjiro Hiyama collected his 132nd pinch-hit hit and moved past Yonetoshi Kawamata into sole possession of third on the CL all-time list.  The hit, a double to center, came off Shohei Tateyama in the 8th inning of Friday night's game against the Yakult Swallows.

The Tigers committed four errors (Takahiro Arai fielding error in the 1st; Ryo Watanabe fielding and throwing error in the 6th; Wei-Chu Lin throwing error in the 8th; Friday night, a first since they committed 5 on 7/7/2009 vs Hiroshima.

Akihito Fujii does not have a hit in his last 25 trips to the plate.

Yomiuri Giants

The Giants decided to demote Shugo Fujii after he gave up 3 runs (2-run homer, solo homer) on 6 hits over 5 innings of relief on Friday night against the Hiroshima Carp.

Shun Tono lasted only an inning Friday night against the Hiroshima Carp (shortest outing of his career).  He also suffered his 10th loss of the season.  With Hirokasu Sawamura at 11 lossses, this marks the first time the Giants have had two pitchers with 10 or more losses since 2006 when Tetsuya Utsumi lost 13 games and Jeremy Powell lost 10 games.  In all, the Giants have had 30 seasons in which 2 or more of their pitchers lost 10 or more games.

Yakult Swallows

Kentaro Kyuko tied Hitoki Iwase's CL rookie record of 21 consecutive appearances without allowing a run after getting the last 2 outs of the 8th in Friday night's game against the Hanshin Tigers -- he walked the first batter he faced to put runners on first and third before getting the next two batters to pop out to second and strikeout looking.

Hiroshima Carp

Kenta Kurihara smacked a 2-run homer off Shugo Fujii in the 3rd inning of Friday night's game against the Yomiuri Giants and became the 156th player in NPB history to hit 150.
