Hanshin Tigers

The media learned on Tuesday that Akinobu Mayumi accepted a request to continue managing the team next season.  Mayumi is currently in the first year of a 2-year deal.

The Tigers announced that they will not offer Ikusei infielder Marcos Vechionacci an extension for the 2012 season.

Ni-gun stats: 52 games, 28-for-110, 4 HR, 48 TB, 15 RBI, 26 SO, 17 BB, .255/.359/.436.

Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi scheduled outing on the 23rd against Ni-gun Orix will likely be his last in a Hanshin uniform.  He was also informed by the Tigers that he isn't a part of their plans for the 2012 season (senryokugai).

Team president Nobuo Minami and team owner Shinya Sakai met on Tuesday to exchange their thoughts on the 2012 season.

Yakult Swallows

Shohei Tateyama is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Chunichi Dragons; Masanori Ishikawa will likely follow with Friday's start.

Hiroshima Carp

Kenta Kurihara told reporters that more than a batting title, he'd rather win an RBI title.  Kurihara is currently batting .299 (good for third in the CL) with  76 RBI (2nd in the CL).

Dennis Sarfate needs just 4 mores saves to tie the franchise mark of 38, set by Katsuhiro Nagakawa in 2008.
