PL News and Notes: Satoshi Nagai (RAK) could miss the rest of the season

Softbank Hawks

Since 7/11/2006, Tsuyoshi Wada is 6-0 in 7 starts at Kyocera Dome.

And at least one scout was on hand to watch Wada pitch on Wednesday: Houston Astros' scout Jeff Kusumoto.

If Seiichi Uchikawa wins a batting title in the PL, he'll become just the second player in NPB history behind Shinichi Eto -- two batting titles with Chunichi in 1964 and 1965 and one batting title with Lotte in 1971.

Yuichi Honda is just the 4th player in franchise history to record 50+ stolen base seasons in 2 or more consecutive seasons.  The last player to do it: Nobuyasu Morishita between 1954 and 1956.  And the last player to accomplish the feat in the NPB: Yasuyuki Kataoka (Seibu) between 2008 and 2010.

Seibu Lions

The Lions begin a 10-game stretch on the 23rd: 9/23 - 9/25 vs Lotte; 9/27 - 9/29 vs Rakuten; 9/30 - 10/2 vs Softbank.

Chiba Lotte Marines

Norifumi Nishimura told reporters he felt Toshiaki Imae would be able to return to the starting line-up as a DH on Friday.  Imae missed 4 games because of a minor left hamstring injury he suffered while running the bases during a game against the Nippon Ham Fighters on the 14th.

Rakuten Eagles

Senichi Hoshino sought out Chiba Lotte Marine Yoshihisa Naruse for tips on how to throw the change -- due to the rain-out, players from both teams shared practice space at the indoor facilities at Kleenex Stadium on Wednesday.

Hoshino also spent some time watching Kohei Hasebe, Ryohei Isaka, and Takahiro Shiomi pitch in the bullpen.

Satoshi Nagai will, in all likelihood, miss the rest of the regular season.

Nagai was hoping to make it back to the active roster some time later this month, but he had to be shutdown after he re-aggravated his right shoulder.  At this point, the team has no idea when he'll be able to return.
