Chunichi Dragons: Masahiro Yamamoto to have surgery on right ankle

The media learned on Friday that 46-year-old Masahiro Yamamoto will have surgery on his right ankle (peroneal tendon) on the 27th. Yamamoto hurt his ankle during spring camp and never managed to recover properly. While Yamamato has said he isn't sure about pitching next season, the fact that he's getting the surgery now would seem to indicate that he has at least some interest.
UPDATE 9/28 @ 2:36pm - Yamamoto had surgery on his right ankle in a Nagoya hospital on Tuesday.
