Chunichi Dragons

Ryoji Nakata received permission to move out of the player dorms on Friday, but is worried about living alone because he has been relying on others to help him wake up in the morning.  He told reporters on Saturday that he plans on purchasing three alarm clocks to help him wake up.

Yohei Oshima told reporters on Saturday that Masahiro Araki invited him to workouts in Kumamoto in January.  Oshima plans on asking Araki for advice on base-stealing.

Hanshin Tigers

Daiki Enokida told reporters on Sunday that he wanted to become more economical with his pitches next season.

Shinjiro Hiyama could go overseas during the winter for his rehab (fracture in his collarbone).

Tomoaki Kanemoto benched 90kg during workouts at Athlete on Saturday -- he maxed out at 8 reps of 80kg this season but managed to do 11 reps of 80kg followed by 5 reps of 90kg.  He hopes to reach 100kg in January (which is still 10kg less than what he used to do).

Trainer Yasunori Gonda told reporters that Kenji Jojima's rehab for his left knee and lower body were going well.  Jojima is currently working out at the indoor training facilities at Koshien where his workouts have included mini-hurdles and ladder drills.  He is now also able to play catch at a distance of about 50 meters.

Jojima will most likely split his time between Koshien and Kyushu during the off-season.

During an OB gathering on Saturday...

when Kohei Shibata said that one of his goals for 2012 was to steal 20 bases, Yutaka Wada chimed in and said 30.  To which Shibata replied, "I have updated [my goal] to 30.  If I approach it like that, I think I will get positive results."

Wada later said, "I want him to approach this like he is going to take the starting job.  I want him to get in there and steal around 30 bases.  I want him to compete at a high level."

Wada spoke about the bullpen and said there was a good chance Enokida and Yasutomo Kubo will be providing the bridge to Kyuji Fujikawa.  He also said that while he was interested in seeing Enokida start, he still wanted him pitching "at the end."

Yomiuri Giants

Tetsuya Utsumi would like to invite kids to a three games series against the Chunichi Dragons that begins on 8/23/2012.  The Giants will be playing in Akita, Morioka, and Koriyama for those three games.

GM Atsushi Harasawa told reporters they were going to consider any free agent they think can help the team, not just Shuichi Murata.  This could be a sign that the team is moving away from their previous plans of developing talent from within.

Yakult Swallows

Yoshinori Sato threw 45 pitches to a squatting catcher in the bullpen on Saturday.  This was Yoshinori's third bullpen session this month.

Said Yoshinori, "I was throwing at about 80%.  I did not think I would get this far before the end of the year."

Hiroshima Carp

Yoshihiro Maru apparently likes to listen to Chopin piano concertos to relax.

On Saturday, Tomonori Maeda told Maru that he needs to learn patience.  The idea being: you should be able to take a base on balls even if you go hitless during your first three at bats; a hit is not necessary.

Yokohama Bay Stars

The Bay Stars' team player rep chairman Shinji Niinuma will be acting on behalf of the team to try and persuade Shuichi Murata to stay in Yokohama.  Niinuma plans on speaking to Murata during the team's Nokai (final meeting of the year) on the 28th.
