Softbank Hawks

Hiroki Kokubo will head to Arizona for winter training on 1/4/2012.

Seibu Lions

Hideto Asamura wants to gain about 10kg during the off-season.  Asamura gained 7kg last winter and began the season at 88kg.  He had a tough time maintain the weight and is currently at 83kg.

Kazuhisa Makita told reporters on Saturday that he has plans to workout with Nippon Ham Fighter Hisashi Takeda during the off-season.

Chiba Lotte Marines

Construction for the new indoor training facilities at QVC Marine was scheduled to end before the end of December.  But due to various problems, the facilities will not be complete until some time in February 2012.  This means players will have to continue using the Inage indoor training facilities, located about 4km away from QVC Marine.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Yoichi Fukuzawa will become Ni-gun battery coach.

Masao Kida (43) and Tomoya Yagi (28) are expected to see their salaries drop by half due to the poor seasons they had this year.

During an OB gathering on Saturday, Yukihiro Nishizaki OB chairman gave Yuki Saito three things to shoot for next season: remaining in the starting rotation the entire season; recording both double-digit victories and more victories than losses; and finding a rival on the team to compete against.

It should also be noted that the above is from Sports Hochi.  But other reports are saying something slightly different.

Sanspo: remain in the starting rotation; win double-digit games; record more wins than losses.

Sponichi: remain in the starting rotation; win double-digit games; break things down to make things easier, think two victories every three games; break things down to make thing easier, think about allowing one run every three innings for a total three runs over nine innings when thing about complete games; and find an internal rival.

Orix Buffaloes

Hirotoshi Kitagawa (39) ruptured his left Achilles tendon while running the bases during a game on 6/26.  Kitagawa is aiming to be fully prepared for the first day of spring camp on 2/1.

The team may opt to cut their spring camp session in Miyakojima, Okinawa short if conditions haven't improved (part of the reason why they will have someone check the facilities next month).  Field/stadium conditions were not very good when the team used the facilities for spring camp this year (February 2010).

Rakuten Eagles

The Rakuten Eagles will be playing at least two exhibition games in Kurashiki during the month of March next year: 3/10 vs Lotte, and 3/11 vs Nippon Ham.  The Eagles are also hoping to make the game on 3/11 special, since it will be one full year after the earthquake/tsunami.  As such, they would ideally like to see either a Masahiro Tanaka vs Yuki Saito match-up, or a Tanaka vs Yu Darvish match-up (if Darvish decides to remain another year).

Shinichiro Koyama took part in an event for fan club members on Sunday (along with Motohiro Shima, and Masahiro Tanaka) and said that he plans on being a full-time middle reliever next season.
