Keiichi Hirano told reporters on Monday that he was not particularly happy with the new baseball that was introduced this season.
"It was a tough season that required adjusting to new equipment," said Hirano. "It was do or die for me. I played thinking that I might ask if something can do be done to the baseball. It does not matter if it does not carry well, I would just like something in between. I want to ask them to use a normal baseball."
He continued, "When I had dinner with [Akihiro] Higashide, our conversation shifted to wondering whether or not something could be done about the baseball. For players that hit the ball hard and low, that first hop kills the momentum and balls that used to go through are no longer going through."
