Softbank Hawks

Sadaharu Oh made an appearance at a Oh Supporters' party on Friday.


Yuya Hasegawa (26) announced that on Friday that he filed marriage papers with a 25-year-old woman on Thursday.


Talento Suzanne (25) posted a message on her blog on Friday morning that she filed marriage papers with rehab coach Kazumi Saito (34) on 11/30.  Saito has also posted a message on his blog as well.

Seibu Lions

The Lions officially announced the additions of Shingo Takeyama (received in a trade with Yokohama) and Masashi Sajikihara (Hanshin senryokugai).  They were also assigned the numbers 52 and 43, respectively.

Nippon Ham Fighters

The Fighters held their Nokai (final meeting of the year) on Friday.  About 200 people attended (staff, players, coaches).


Atsunori Inaba and Toshimasa Konta appeared at a fan event in Sapporo on Thursday.  About 300 fans showed up.

Rakuten Eagles

Fuminori Yokogawa has apparently asked the Eagles to consider making the surface in the outfield a little softer because it was harder compared to other stadiums.


Teppei will be working out at Hokkaido High-Tech Athlete Club's indoor stadium between 12/8 and 12/10.


Senichi Hoshino appeared at a Senichi Supporters' party on FridayMasahiro Tanaka and Akihiro Yano were special guests.  Hoshino got some laughs from the crowd when he said, "My dream is to play the Tigers at Koshien during the Nippon Series.  Maybe Yano will be manager by then."


Akinori Iwamura agreed to a salary of 150M yen (no change) on Friday and did not talk to the press.  He will be in the final year of two-year deal next year.

Orix Buffaloes

The Buffaloes announced today that Kenji Kobayashi (26), Daisuke Nobue (22), Masataka Yamazaki (22) and Takuya Kai (20) were all returning to the club as Ikusei players.  All four pitchers were on the Buffaloes' 70-man roster this past season.


Dae-Ho Lee apparently told the Buffaloes he is planning to shed about 10kg.  Lee currently weighs around 130kg.  He will also most likely be used as a 3B/DH -- Akinobu Okada said he does not plan on locking Lee into DH.

      To clarify:

      Sports Hochi mentioned that splitting time between third and DH.

      On the other hand, Sponichi offered a quote from Okada that said positions would not be decided until all moves were made and that the only thing he could say was that Lee would not be a full-time DH.

      Also, I think Lee’s primary position is first and secondary position is third. To me it makes more sense just to plug Lee at first. It could be that Sports Hochi made a mistake.

      There are also the Shinji Takahashi rumors — if he joins the team, he could slide into first, which means Lee and Baldiris could switch back and forth between DH and 3B. Although if they like Takahashi’s bat, it still might make more sense to keep Baldiris at third, put Lee at first, and have Takahashi DH.

      I suppose he can, but I don’t know if his knees are in that great a shape for him to be a full-time catcher anymore.
