About 12,000 fans showed up for fan appreciation day at QVC Marine on Saturday.  Outdoor events had to be canceled due to the rain.

Talento Naoaki Iwasaki is updating his impressions of Hideki Kuriyama as a reporter to Hideki Kuriyama as a manager.

Orix Buffaloes

Chihiro Kaneko hosted a two-hour fan event at Hotel Universal Port in Osaka on Saturday. 19 families were invited.  During a Q&A session, Kaneko was asked if he wanted to play in the Majors.  His reply: "Not right now.  I do not have the stats for it.  And it is not so much that I want to become a major leaguer, but that I want to play in an MLB stadium."

Tetsuya Yokohama made an appearance as special guest -- he was dress in a reindeer costume and handed out 19 Kaneko autographed baseball gloves.


Shunta is currently eating six meals a day in order to gain weight during the off-season.  So far, he has gone from 74kg (before fall camp) to 77kg and is hoping to make it to 80kg.

Rakuten Eagles

Senichi Hoshino, perhaps jokingly, told guests at a Senichi supporters party on Friday that Masahiro Tanaka was going to win 20+ games and another Sawamura award.  He then added the only thing that worried him about Tanaka was things not going well with his girlfriend.

On Saturday, Hoshino attended another supporters party, this time with head coach Koichi Tabuchi, and said that he could feel a change within the team after he put them through a grueling schedule during fall camp that also included waking up at 6am for early morning practices.
