Softbank Hawks

Shota Oba met with the Hawks for about an hour and 20 minutes on Friday and could not agree on a satisfactory salary for 2012.  Softbank reportedly offered Oba 20M yen, up from the 11.5M yen he made this season. ... Hiroki Yamada was offered an estimated 26M yen (up from 14M yen) but put the offer on hold because he apparently wanted 30M yen.


Sho Iwasaki is scheduled to work out with Yu Darvish during the winter (he wants advice on how to bulk up).


Toru Hosokawa may have made an extra 50M yen or so in incentives this season.


The Hawks named Hiroshi Yugamidani as the new dorm manager at their Saitozaki training facilities.

Seibu Lions

The Lions held their team Nokai golf competition on FridayKazuyuki Hoashi, Hiroyuki Nakajima, and Ming-Chieh Hsu were all present.


The media learned on Thursday 22-year-old Masato Kumashiro filed marriage papers with a 22-year-old woman named Mayumi Watanabe (渡辺真弓 ?) on the same day.  The two had been seeing each other for about 6 years before tying the knot.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Hideki Kuriyama told reporters on Thursday that he needed find over 30 victories if Yu Darvish's posting goes well.  30 victories = victories by Darvish + the victories he helps set up for the pitcher that starts games after he pitches.


The Fighters announced their Ni-gun coaches on Friday.

They also announced three additions to their staff:

Hiroyuki Sekine - pitching coach >>team development, pro scout

Shun Takaichi - Yakult senryokugai >> staff

Yoshinari Tokuda - farm batter coach >> farm staff


Sho Nakata told reporters on Thursday that he does have an interested in playing in the Majors.


Yuki Saito hinted again on Thursday that he would love to be invited to work out with Ichiro during the winter.

Orix Buffaloes

Tomotaka Sakaguchi apparently wanted a 50M yen raise but was only offered a 30M yen raise.

Rakuten Eagles

Senichi Hoshino is planning to travel a distance of about 1,550km over a three days period (12/9-12/12) to meet with support group members (about 550 of them) scattered around the Tohoku area (Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Yamagata, and Fukushima).  He started out by visiting support group members based out of Aomori today.
