According to Sponichi, Hideki Matsui could meet with the LA Dodgers as early as 12/12 (or 12/13 in Japan). They also mention an ESPN blog post by Jon Weisman from 12/10. A snip:
Earlier this week, Tony Jackson of ESPNLosAngeles.com reported that the Dodgers are considering the addition of a free-agent left-handed pinch-hitter. Today, Jackson told me via e-mail he has learned that there are at least three people on the Dodgers' list and one of them is Hideki Matsui.
Norichika Aoki recently said to reporters, "I do not have any requirements for where I want to play, but it would help if the team had another Japanese player. That way I would be able to exchange words."
Sponichi provides the following quote by LA Angels' GM Jerry Dipoto on Yu Darvish: "Darvish is one of the best pitcher's available. Every one of the 30 teams has probably considered [going after him] once. But there is no chance we will go after him." Dipoto is also quoted as saying, "We are happy with the starters we have. We do not have any reason to go after any more starters."
