Chunichi Dragons

The Masahiro Araki 300 steals, 1,500 games, and 1,500 hits Achievement Commemorative Party took place at The Westin Nagoya Castle on Sunday.

Kazuhiro Wada started making adjustments in his batting mechanics with the help of Hiromitsu Ochiai beginning in 2009.  He entered the final stages this past season and was told that the final stages would be the most difficult to overcome.  Wada struggled a lot this past season, but does not plan to veer away from what he started three years ago.

Hanshin Tigers

Wei-Chu Lin and Shinji Komiyama participated in a Christmas event at Hotel Hanshin on Sunday.  Lin told guests that he plans to return to Taiwan around the 25th and will begin the New Year working on solidifying his batting mechanics; Komiyama will be working out with Atsushi Nomi in January.

Minotu Iwata was a guest at a Christmas gathering for children with type 1 diabetes, and their families, at Okayama Red Cross Hospital in Okayama on Sunday.  The gathering lasted about an hour and a half.  Close to 100 people attended.

Kyuji Fujikawa took off for Hawaii on Saturday for about three weeks of training.

Kenji Jojima is currently rehabbing in Sasebo, Nagasaki.  Team trainer Yasunori Gonda is scheduled to check in with Jojima in early January.

Keiichi Hirano held a baseball clinic at Inada Elementary School in Kawasaki, Kanagawa on Sunday.

The media learned on Saturday that Matt Murton has already started his training for the 2012 seasonAccording to the update the Tigers received, Murton, along with his brother Luke, is already playing catch, taking BP, and running.

Yasutomo Kubo told fans on Saturday during Hanshin Tigers Christmas 2011 that he has learned how to control his emotions, while on the mound, over the last few years.

Akihito Fujii plans on taking his first swings of the New Year at a batting center in Osaka.

Shinta Hifumi apparently wants to have surgery on his right shoulder because he wants to get rid of the pain, move on, and start practicing again.

Yomiuri Giants

GM/team rep Atsushi Harasawa spent about two hours at Giants Stadium on Saturday -- he spoke to coaches and watched the younger players work out.

Shuichi Murata does not plan on changing the way he plays the game, but if he is asked to prepare for it, he will.

"I have not bunted in quite a bit.  But it is an important part of teamwork and if Hara kantoku asks, I will include it in my workouts," said Murata.  He added, "I do not think I have to change everything, because it would still be good to be able to get a big hit when it is needed."

Ryosuke Miyaguni plans on working out with Kenji Yano in Ishigakijima  in January.

The media learned on Saturday that Shun Tono will be working out at Athletes Performance in Los Angeles for about a week later this month.

Hirokazu Sawamura and his wife held a wedding ceremony at a hotel in Tokyo on SaturdayAbout 100 people attended the ceremonies.

Yakult Swallows

Shinya Miyamoto, Masanori Ishikawa, and Kenichi Matsuoka participated in Mizuno Baseball Festival at Fuji University in Hanamaki, Iwate on Saturday.

On Sunday, Miyamoto held a baseball clinic for about 60 youth baseball players in Kesennuma, Miyagi.

Ishikawa plans on gathering other players from the Tohoku region (or with ties to the Tohoku region) to create a group called Michinoku-kai.  The group's aim will be to raise money for relief efforts in northern Japan by holding charity auctions about once a month next year.  The group will consist mainly of Ishikawa, Yoshinori Sato, and Kazuhiro Hatakeyama.  Team scout Yukio Yaegashi and advance scout Munehiro Shida will also help out.  4th round draft pick Yuya Ota and 5th round draft pick Yuji Nakane could also join the group.

Hiroshima Carp

Shigenobu Shima, Yoshikazu Kura, Shota DobayashiTakeru Imamura, and Yoshihiro Maru participated in JA Kyosai Youth Baseball Clinic at Shimanami Stadium in Onomichi, Hiroshima on Sunday.  Around 200 players from 20 Hiroshima teams attended the clinic.

Yoshiyuki Ishihara spent time with 25 kids at Tsuta Kodomo-no Ie on Saturday.  Ishihara donated 600,000 yen to the facilities this season (10,000 yen for every hit he recorded).

Soichiro Amaya plans on working out with Akihiro Higashide in Okinawa in January.

Takeshi Komatsu held a wedding ceremony with his wife in Hiroshima on Saturday (they actually filed marriage papers in December 2009).  About 140 people attended.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Kiyoshi Nakahata plans on checking out the Ichi-gun (Ginowan) and Ni-gun (Kadena) spring camp facilities with all the coaches some time in January.  The trip will likely take place after a scheduled staff meeting on 1/11.

On Saturday, Nakata was a guest on TV Tokyo's neo sports when he announced that he was assigned the number 70 -- '7' because the team managed a number of comebacks after the 7th inning this past season and '0' because it is start from scratch.  He also mentioned that he would not mind drinking with players when things are not going well.
