Chunichi Dragons

The Dragons announced that they will be creating a fan services department for the 2012 season.  The team also decided on a new slogan: Join Us, ファンと共に.

Takeshi Yamasaki is looking to become the eighth player in NPB history to record homers against 13 different teams.

Hanshin Tigers

Takumi Akiyama, Takahiro Araki, and Yuhei Kai returned from playing winter ball in Australia on Wednesday.

Kai - 14-for-67, 7 runs, 4 double, 0 triples, 0 homers, 5 RBI, .209/.264/.269

Araki - 10-for-53, 3 runs, 1 double, 0 triples, 0 homers, 3 RBI, .189/.259/.208

Atsushi Nomi met with the Tigers on Wednesday and placed a 100M yen (up 45M yen) offer on hold.  Nomi told reporters that he wanted a 55M yen raise.

Yuya Ando tossed 50 pitches in the bullpen after his salary negotiations on Tuesday.  He also did some long distance throwing and tire pulling.

Minoru Iwata's goal for 2012: toss as many innings as possible and stay healthy enough/pitch well enough to remain in the rotation the entire season.

Tomoaki Kanemoto left Japan on Tuesday in order to continue his training in Hawaii on Tuesday.

The Tigers had a bit of a scare when Daiki Enokida took a ball off his right cheek while fielding a grounder (ricocheted off his glove) during practice on Tuesday.  Fortunately, it was nothing serious and only required an ice pack.

Naruohama will be closed for the winter beginning on 12/26.

Yomiuri Giants

Takanobu Tsujiuchi, Hideki Asai, Jumpei Ono, and Shoki Kasahara returned to Japan on Tuesday from stints in the Puerto Rican Winter League.

Tsujiuchi - 0-1, 5 G, 0 GS, 4.1 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 SO, 2.08 ERA

Asai - 0-1, 3 G, 2 GS, 6.1 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 7 SO, 9.95 ERA

Ono - 2-3, 7 G, 7 GS, 35.2 IP, 30 H, 15 R, 14 ER, 11 BB, 24 SO, 3.53 ERA

Yakult Swallows

Shohei Tateyama will spend about a month working out in Hawaii beginning on 12/24.  While in Hawaii, he plans to run about 15km a day -- for the first half, he will have his wife drop him off various points around the hotel they will be staying at; for the second half he will ride the bus out and run the distance back.

Tateyama also plans to toss his first bullpen session during spring camp on 2/15.

Tsubakuro met with the Swallows on Wednesday and agreed on a one-year deal worth 10,000 yen plus all the Toughmans he can drink.

Hiroshima Carp

Tsubasa Aizawa (23) announced on Tuesday that he filed marriage papers with a 23-year-old woman on 12/1.  The two started seeing each other during their third year in a high school and Aizawa dropped the question in August 2010.

The Carp decided to assign Kam Mickolio the number 57 and Nick Stavinoha the number 70 on Tuesday.

The media learned on Tuesday that Akira Tanaka will be joining the team as an advanced scorer.
