Chunichi Dragons

Masahiko Morino and Kazuki Yoshimi worked out at Nagoya Stadium on Wednesday.  Morino will continue to workout at Nagoya Stadium through to the end of the year and will pick-up his training in Guam in January.  Yoshimi will be spending most of his time working out at the Toyoto (an Industrial League team he used to play for) training facilities in Toyota, Aichi.

Hanshin Tigers

Atsushi Nomi and Tatsuya Kojima made an appearance at Shitennoji Yawaragian, a facility for people with disabilities, in Tondabayashi, Osaka on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Nomi met with the Tigers and placed a 100M yen (up 45M yen) off on hold because he did not think he was getting enough credit for the season he had (like being the only pitcher on the staff to toss 200 innings and for coming back strong after an injury during the 2010 season). The Tigers, in turn, felt they gave him enough credit.

Keiichi Hirano met with the Tigers today and placed an estimated 180M yen (up 20M yen) offer on hold.

Takumi Akiyama learned how to throw a cutter while pitching in the Australia Winter League.

"I learned how to throw a cutter," said Akiyama.  "When I used it in games, I was able to gt a lot of grounders.  I would like to give it a try with the Japanese baseball."

He continued, "I wanted to throw a pitch with some movement and I also learned what to do to make pitches move.  I want to keep this up because I feel like I am finally getting a grasp on things.  Instead of putting myself in a position where I need a strikeout, I was able to get outs using one pitch.  I was also able to get batters to strikeout while swinging at my fastball.  I need to continue working on my fastball."

===

Minoru Iwata participated in a Christmas event on Wednesday and told fans that he looked forward to the possibility of facing Ichiro Suzuki next year during an exhibition game against the Seattle Mariners on 3/25.

===

The Tigers plan on having their advance scouts check out the Yomiuri Giants (particularly Toshiya Sugiuchi) from the first day of spring camp.

===

Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi worked out at Naruohama on Wednesday and is still waiting for an offer for the 2012 season.

Yomiuri Giants

The Giants released spring training schedules last week.

===

The Giants announced on Thursday that they will introduce Toshiya Sugiuchi during a press conference on Friday (12/23).  Tatsnori Hara will also be present.

===

The Yomiuri Giants announced on Thursday that they hired Fernando Seguignol to be their US scout.

===

Jumpei Ono, Takanobu Tsujiuchi, and Shoki Kasahara worked on new change-ups while playing winter ball in Puerto Rico.

===

Ono was assigned a new uniform number: from 60 to 43.

===

Hisayoshi Chono is just the fourth Giant to win a batting title and a Golden Glove in the same season.  The other three players: Sadaharu Oh in 1973 and 1974; Kazunori Shinozuka in 1984; and Hideki Matsui in 2001.

Yakult Swallows

Shinya Miyamoto currently has nine Golden Gloves.  The CL record of 10 is held by Koji Yamamoto.

Hiroshima Carp

The Carp announced on Thursday that they will be inviting 100 fan club members to spring camp in Okinawa and Nichinan next year.

===

Kenta Maeda had a chance to view some footage of Nick Stavinoha and Kam Mickolio when he met with owner Hajime Matsuda on 12/11.

Yokohama Bay Stars

The Bay Stars are looking to add someone to their staff that can handle region, fan, and sponsor relations.

===

Ni-gun manager Daisuke Yamashita and Kiyoshi Nakahata met on Wednesday and decided on a schedule that will allow Nakahata the opportunity to check Ni-gun players when Ichi-gun players have the day off during spring camp -- both Ichi-gun and Ni-gun players will get one day off, Mondays for Ichi-gun and Tuesdays, respectively, for every six days of training.

===

Nakahata told reporters on Wednesday that he was thinking about taking over as first base coach everyone now and then.

===

Ni-gun manager Yamashita told reporters on Wednesday that the Bay Stars want their players to have a better grasp of what it takes to run a team and that they are planning to hold seminars during spring camp next year.
