Softbank Hawks

The Hawks announced their spring training schedules on Wednesday.


Nobuhiro Matsuda, Shuhei Fukuda, and Ryuma Kidokoro made appearances at Emoto Knee & Sport Clinic in Fukuoka on Thursday and taught about 300 people different stretches/exercises to help stay injury-free.


Nikkan Sports mentions that Yuya Hasegawa could be a candidate to bat lead-off next season.


Shigeru Iwashita's first job as replacement for Itaru Kobayashi was to negotiate salaries with Yuya Hasegawa and Hidenori Tanoue on Wednesday.

Seibu Lions

The Lions' slogan for 2012: 出しきれ!ライオンズ, Give it your all! Lions.


The announced that they added Tatsuya Nakano (中野達也) to their staff as a Ni-gun training coach.  He was assigned the number 96.


Takumi Kuriyama will look to Takeya Nakamura to help him bring the team together next season.

"I am an outfielder.  Okawari-kun is an infielder.  I would like to see him do things like go to the mound to help the pitcher get into a good rhythm," said Kuriyama.


Yusei Kikuchi played in the Australian Baseball League's All-Star Game on Wednesday (12/21).  He entered the game in the bottom of the 2nd and struck out the first two batters he faced before giving up two singles and getting out of the inning on a throwing out at home plate.  Final line: 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO, 0 HR.

Kikuchi is scheduled to return to Japan on 12/24.

Nippon Ham Fighters

The Fighters announced today that 24-year-old Ryota Imanari married a 24-year-old woman named Yui Utsunomiya (? 宇都宮 裕衣).

Orix Buffaloes

The Buffaloes announced on Thursday that they will be donating 5M yen to relief/reconstruction efforts in Northern Japan through the Japanese Red Cross Society.  The money was raised was raised through charity uniform auctions.

Rakuten Eagles

Ryohei Isaka returned to Japan on Tuesday after playing some winter ball in Australia.

Isaka - 3-0, 4 G, 4 GS, 23 IP, 29 H, 10 R, 10 ER, 7 BB, 21 SO, 3.91 ERA


Hanamaki, Iwate held a ceremony on Thursday to rename Osako Baseball Stadium to Rakuten Eagles Osako Baseball Stadium.  The name change was in recognition of the work the Eagles have done in the area.  This is the 13th time a stadium was renamed to include the Eagles' team name.


Masahiro Tanaka is scheduled to meet with the Rakuten Eagles on 12/26.  Sanspo thinks Tanaka's salary could top 300M yen next year.

Tanaka also posted a message on his blog on Wednesday that mentioned how he had a chance to apologize directly to the woman he accidentally hit and was met with words of support.

NHK announced on Wednesday that Tanaka will be a Kohaku Uta Gassen judge.
