Softbank Hawks

Masahiko Morifuku told reporters that pitching in 60 games will not be enough if he wants to win an MVP and that he will have to prepare himself to pitch in 70-80 games next season.


Hiroki Yamada went into his salary negotiation meeting on Monday prepared to hold off on signing anything unless he got what he wanted.  Yamada did not have to wait long since the Hawks gave him what he wanted: a 30M yen offer (up 18M yen).

Seibu Lions

Takayuki Kishi plans on spending time strengthening his trunk muscles this winter after struggling with injuries the last two seasons (right shoulder in 2010 and right oblique this season).

Nippon Ham Fighters

Hideki Kuriyama may be looking to Masaru Nakamura to help fill in the gap in the starting rotation left by Yu Darvish's possible departure.


Atsunori Inaba will attempt to become just the third player in NPB history to win Golden Gloves as both an outfielder and an infielder -- while he spent close to half of his games as a DH (64 at first, 60 as a DH, 9 in right), he will most likely be used as a full-time first baseman next season.

The other two players: Shigeru Takada and Norifumi Nishimura.


Sho Nakata would like to hit the team's first homer in 2012Makoto Kaneko has been responsible for hitting the team's first home run the last three consecutive seasons.

The media learned on Sunday that Shigeyoshi Inoue (76) will be stepping down as special advisor to the team.
