Chunichi Dragons

Takashi Ogasawara worked out for about an hour at Nagoya Stadium on Saturday -- he was invited by Tatsuo Kinoshita (traded to Yakult) and they played some catch and did some running.

Hitoki Iwase may try tinkering with his slider and shuto to see if he can get his pitches to move a little differently.

Hanshin Tigers

Tatsuro Hirooka will be a special coach during spring camp next year.

The Tigers will be setting up a database of footage that players will ultimately be able to access via smartphones/tablets.

Former Tiger Marcos Vechionacci (25) would like another shot at playing in Japan next year.

Yomiuri Giants

Tatsunori Hara will be banning three things during spring camp BP next year:

- no batting gloves -- blisters can show how you are swinging the bat
- no resin or other non-slip powders -- get a better feel for the bat
- no long soft-toss/tee -- trying to hit balls far during soft toss (or when hitting off a tee) can mess with you batting mechanics

Yakult Swallows

5th round draft pick Yuji Nakane will undergo ACL surgery on his right knee on 1/7/2012.  It will likely be about six months before he is able to do regular training exercises, like running.

Said Nakane, "Once the decision is made, it is best to get it out of the way as soon as possible.  I made the decision after discussing it with a number of people. ... I might not be able to make it back next year, but I would like to return as early as possible."

Tsubakuro might get the chance to host a dinner show next year.

Hiroshima Carp

Yuya Fukui will begin his 2012 workouts, with a number of other players like Yasuyuki Kataoka (SEI) and Shuichiro Osada (SEI), on 1/4.

Yokohama Bay Stars

The fate of mascots Hosshey, Hossiezo, and Hosshiena will be determined in January.
