Seibu Lions

The Lions announced on Saturday that 24-year-old Toshihiro Iwao filed marriage papers with a 24-year-old woman on Friday.

New team player chairman Takumi Kuriyama is asking the team to schedule fewer day games in September this next season because of the hot weather.

Kazuhisa Makita once again plans on tossing 300+ pitches in one day during spring camp next year.  Makita topped out at 301 pitches during a spring camp bullpen session this year.

Chiba Lotte Marines

Orion Beer is thinking about asking Shota Ishimine to be a brand spokesperson.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Hideki Kuriyama is planning to check in with players, individually, on a daily basis (five minutes per player, two players a day).

Sho Nakata wants a spot on the 2013 WBC roster.  If Yu Darvish leaves, it would also give the two another shot at being teammates.

Orix Buffaloes

Takahiro Okada returned from his family trip to Hawaii on Thursday and told reporters on Friday that he planned to begin workouts on January 1 (perhaps even some BP at a batting center he has been going to since elementary school).

Rakuten Eagles

The Eagles are thinking of setting up an office in the US to help them with their efforts at securing foreign players.

The team is still looking for a left-handed bat with pop and a pitcher.

As of now, the only players that probably have starting jobs are Motohiro Shima (catcher), Kensuke Uchimura (second), Kazuo Matsui (short), Ryo Hijirisawa (center), and Luis Terrero (right).  Senichi Hoshino wants the rest of the players competing for the remaining starting jobs.

Hoshino will have:

Teppei and Akihisa Makida compete in left
Luis Garcia will compete with another foreign player at first
The DH will be selected from the remaining two players
Third will be a toss-up between Yosuke Takasu, Daisuke Kusano, and Akinori Iwamura.

MBS Radio will be broadcasting a special New Years program hosted by Hoshino on 1/1/2012 at 1pm.
