Chunichi Dragons

Hirokazu Ibata told fans during a talk session on Tuesday that he wanted to play at short again (although he obviously left the final decision up to Morimichi Takagi).

Masahiro Yamamoto worked out for about an hour and half at his alma mater, Nihon University Fujisawa High School, on Wednesday (running, playing catch).

Yakult Swallows

For the third year in a row, Masanori Ishikawa will be working out with Chunichi Dragon Masahiro Yamamoto at World Wing in Totori.  Yoshiyuki Noguchi will also be joining the group.

Yomiuri Giants

Shinnosuke Abe and the rest of his group started workouts (which last about seven hours) in Guam on Wednesday.

Tatsunori Hara is expecting his players to be ready to play by the time the Okinawa portion of their spring camp begins.

In an effort to strengthen his lower body, Toshiya Sugiuchi plans to spend time riding his bicycle between the player hotel and the spring camp facilities this year.

Hanshin Tigers

Yutaka Wada is looking forward to having a (hopefully) healthy Tomoaki Kanemoto this year.  And assuming Kanemoto is fine, he could find himself in the starting line-up (as a DH) for the team's first Koshien Stadium exhibition game of the year (3/9 vs Seibu).

Kanemoto did not play in his first game until 3/12 (was the starting DH and batted third) last year and did not play the field until 3/20 (started in left).

Wada, Atsushi Nomi, and Keiichi Hirano took part in a talk session at a hotel in Osaka on Wednesday.

1st round draft pick Hayata Ito attended party thrown by the Aichi Nagakute Boys baseball team on Wednesday.  Ito used to play for the team when he was younger (elementary school - junior high).

The player's food menu during spring camp will be changing this year because the team will be staying in one spot the entire duration (the team wants to make sure players do not get bored with the menu).

3rd round draft pick Naoto Nishida is using his smartphone to check footage of other players (like Takashi Toritani, Hideto Asamura, and Hiroyuki Nakajima) as he works out during the winter.

Hiroshima Carp

Assuming no injuries, Kenta Kurihara could earn his international FA option on 6/8.  The Carp plan on proactively approaching Kurihara to keep him from leaving Hiroshima.  Especially after he questioned the team's sincerity during negotiations this winter.

1st round draft pick Yusuke Nomura and 4th round draft pick Shoei Habu worked out at their alma mater, Koryo High School, on Wednesday.

Habu is having a hard time deciding what his intro song should be: people are him are suggesting Finger Five's Gakuen Tengoku but he likes GReeeeN's Tobira.

Yokohama Bay Stars

The Bay Stars will be playing an exhibition game at Yokohama Stadium on 3/11, the one-year anniversary of the Tohoku Earthquake.  On Tuesday, Kiyoshi Nakahata told reporters that if the situation merits, he would be more than happy to make a speech.

Nakahata also told reporters he wanted his players to vocal -- if you make a mistake, apologize; if someone steps up for you, thank them.
