Yakult Swallows interested in 33-year-old RHP Orlando Roman

Nikkan Sports is reporting that the Yakult Swallows are interested in right-handed pitcher Orlando Roman (33). Roman played for Puerto Rico during the 2006 WBC and spent the last two seasons with the Brother Elephants of the CPBL. He also spent time with the New York Mets (1999-2006), Baltimore Orioles (2007), and Toronto Blue Jays (2008).
The report also mentions that the Swallows were talking to a number of pitchers toward the end of last year but were not able to finalize deals with any of them. If they are able to sign Roman, he probably will not be able to join the team from the start of spring camp due to visa issues.
Incidentally, Daily Sports first reported the Swallows' interest in Roman back on 12/31/2011.
