Chunichi Dragons

Masahiro Araki worked out at Kumamoto General Sports Park on Saturday.  Workouts included running, BP, taking grounders and running up 3,333 stairs found in Misato, Kumamoto.  Other players like Yohei Oshima, Ryosuke Hirata, and Ryoji Nakata were also part of a group working out with Araki.

Takuya Asao played catch for about 10 minutes at Nagoya Stadium on Saturday.

Takeshi Yamasaki headed to Hawaii on Friday with Kosuke Fukudome.

Motonobu Tanishige could become the first place to record at least one homer in 24 consecutive seasons, beginning with his rookie year.  Katasuya Nomura holds the general record of 25 consecutive season (he failed to hit a homer in his very first year in 1954).

Yakult Swallows

Shinya Miyamoto began his workouts in Matsuyama on Saturday.  Yasushi Iihara, Tetsuto Yamada, Masakazu Fukukawa, Ryuji Miyade, Nariaki Kawasaki, Jun Matsui, Tetsuya Yamamoto, and Yuhei Nakamura are all working out with Miyamoto.

3rd round draft pick Wataru Hiyane, 4th round draft pick Yuya Ota, 6th round draft pick Masato Furuno, and Ikusei 1st round draft pick Takeaki Tokuyama moved into the player dorms on Saturday.

Yomiuri Giants

Former Rakuten Eagle Jin Nakatani worked out with former Seibu Lion Yoshihito Ishii at Giants Stadium on Saturday.  Nakatani later told reporters he was impressed with the facilities (he signed in December).

Ishii told reporters that he plans to workout with former WBA Super Flyweight champion Katsuya Onizuka for about a week the boxer's gym in Fukuoka beginning on Monday.

Yoshiyuki Kamei took off for Miyazaki out of Haneda Airport on SaturdayTetsuya Matsumoto, Ryuichi Kajimae, Itaru Hashimoto, and BP pitcher Goki Sato will be joining him.

Norihito Kaneto left Japan for Hawaii out of Narita Airport on Saturday.  He plans to workout in Hawaii with other players like Hisanori Takahashi and Hiroki Sanada.

Workouts for the Tetsuya Utsumi Group on Friday consisted of a three kilometer run, followed by some catch and fielding practice.  The two sets of eight 210-meter dashes.

The Giants in Guam managed to raise about 130M yen during their charity event at Outrigger Guam Resort on Friday.  The players plan on holding another charity event at the same hotel on 1/14.

Ni-gun pitching coach Kiyoshi Toyoda is currently on a family trip to Guam.

Hanshin Tigers

The 2011 draft class worked out at Naruohama on Saturday.

Daiki Enokida worked out for about four hours and a half at the Tokyo Gas training facilities on Saturday.

Atsushi Nomi and Naoto Tsuru took part in a talk session at a hotel in Nishinomiya, Hyogo on Saturday.

Shinjiro Hiyama worked out for over three hours (weight training) in Guam on Friday.  He plans to take his workouts outdoors on Saturday.

Tomoaki Kanemoto worked on his upper body for about six hours on Friday -- he was at Athlete (gym) from the morning until the evening and benched 90kg (6 to 8 reps depending on the source) at one point.

1st round draft pick Hayata ito moved into the player dorm on Friday with a magniflex mattress. ... 2nd round draft pick Hiroaki Saiuchi moved in wearing a birthstone bracelet (for luck). ... 3rd round draft pick Naoto Nishida moved in with four stuffed Disney Duffy bears. ... 4th round draft pick Kazuo Ito moved in with a number of autographed baseballs. ... 5th round draft pick Ryoma Matsuda moved in with two gloves and a Hanshin player guide.

Hiroshima Carp

Takahiro Iwamoto worked out at Mazda Stadium on Saturday and took BP for the first time in 2012.  He also told reporters that he is learning how to run from trainer Makoto Takashima.

Yoshihiro Maru worked out at Mazda Stadium on Saturday.  He will probably compete with players like Jun Hirose and Masato Akamatsu for playing time in 2012.

Jun Hirose will be working out with Ikusei pitcher Kyosuke Yamano in Oita this month.  Hirose plans to throw off a mound in order to build up arm strength and help him with his balance.

The Carp announced early details of their spring camp on Friday.  The first leg of camp will take place in Okinawa, Okinawa between 2/1 and 2/14; the second leg will take place in Nichinan, Miyazaki between 2/16 and 2/29.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Daisuke Miura and Eri Yoshida met with about 40 kids from Fukushima at Bunko Elementary School in Yokohama for about an hour on Saturday.

Four members of the 2011 draft class, including 1st round draft pick Yujo Kitagata, moved into the player dorm on Saturday.  Joint training for the members of the 2011 draft class begin on 1/9.

GM Shigeru Takada (66) apparently told Kiyoshi Nakahata (58) to go easy on the alcohol once spring camp starts because he was concerned about the manager's health during the season.  Nakahata understands the concern and told reporters that he plans to change once he puts on the uniform on 2/1.

    Coach Nakahata probably started drinking more when he accepted his job in Yokohama, Konpai Coach……
