Yokohama Bay Stars: Kiyoshi Nakahata feels team has a solid group of pitching prospects

Training camp for the 2011 draft class began at the Ni-gun facilities in Yokosuka, Kanagawa today.

Kiyoshi Nakahata watched over the session and then spent about an hour working out himself.

Nakahata's comments on Yuki Kuniyoshi:

I saw some video of Kuniyoshi and he has a really good fastball.  He's also tall and has good looks.  If he manages to win a spot in the starting rotation, he could become popular with the fans.  He should try to become a [Yu] Darvish type of pitcher.

Nakahata also said that he felt the team a number of solid pitching prospects and that it would be important to make sure those arms developed properly (he is hoping pitching coach Denney Tomori is able to whip the younger pitchers into shape).

5th round draft pick Tomo Otosaka is a fan of Shojo Jidai (Girls' Generation) and moved into the player dorm on Sunday with their calendar.

7th round draft pick Hyuma Matsui's parents are fans of the manga Kyojin-no Hoshi and decided to name their son after the main character from the story (ironically, Hyuma does not read any manga).  Hyuma's father also spent two years (1982-1983) in the Lotte organization.
