Chunichi Dragons

Training camp for the 2011 draft class began on Wednesday.  Workouts lasted about five hours and included running, playing catch, and physical strength tests.

1st round draft pick Shuhei Takahashi spent extra time taking soft-toss BP after general practices.

5th round draft pick Takahiro Kawasaki worked out separately because of a left leg injury.

The Dragons announced on Wednesday that they were opening up Nagoya Stadium to fans during practices between 1/15 and 1/25 (with the exception of 1/18 and 1/22 when the players have the day off).

The Dragons' preliminary spring camp schedule can be found here.

Hanshin Tigers

Kenji Jojma worked out in Sasebo, Nagasaki on Wednesday.  Jojima has worked on losing weight this winter (about 5kg) in order to lessen the strain on his knees.

When reporters asked Jojima about Yutaka Wada's idea of using him at first he replied, "I do take pride in being a catcher, but as a player, my job is to do what the manager asks me to do."

Masashi Nohara (HAN), Fumihito Haraguchi (HAN), Shunsuke (HAN), Koji Mise (CHU), Ginjiro (SEI), and Keiyo Aomatsu (LOT), were amongst the players working out with Jojima.

Shinjiro Hiyama worked out at the indoor Koshien facilities on Wednesday and told reporters his rehab was going well.  Hiyamam plans to return to Guam within the next few days to continue his training in the warmer weather.

The 2011 draft class had the day off on Wednesday.  1st round draft pick Hayata Ito spent parts of the day working out -- about 25 minutes of running and about an hour indoors doing things like bunt practices.

Hiroshima Carp

Kenta Maeda worked out with Takeru Imamura at Mazda Stadium on Wednesday.  Workouts included running and playing light catch at a distance of about 30 meters.  For Maeda, it was the first time he threw the ball since fall camp.

Yuya Fukui showed up at Mazda Stadium on 1/11 (Wednesday) at 11:11am.  Fukui has a thing for repeating numbers: when he moved into the player dorm last year, he moved in on 1/11 and 1pm; he also wears the number 11.

Fukui's one-day workout at Mazda Stadium lasted about an hour and included running and playing catch.  He will now head back to Tokyo where he initially started his practices at the Tokyo Gas training facilities with Yasuyuki Kataoka (SEI) on 1/4.

All eight members of the 2011 draft class moved into the player dorm on Wednesday.  1st round draft pick Yusuke Nomura was assigned the room Kenta Maeda once used (room 104).  Training camp for the 2011 draft class begins on Thursday.
