Training camp for the 2011 draft class began indoors at Kleenex Stadium todayWorkouts lasted about five hours and included running in the morning and playing catch, fielding practice, and lower body strengthening exercises in the afternoon.

Yasunori Kikuchi worked out for about two hours with a group players, including Takahiro Shiomi and Kengo Kimura, at Kleenex Stadium on Wednesday.  He later told reporters he ideally wanted to be a starter and wanted to record at least five victories.  Kikuchi also said that he was working on a fork he learned how to throw from pitching coach Hiroshi Takamura last season.  To that end, he thinks he might increase the number of pitches he throws in the bullpen (from about 100 to 150) during spring camp.

Fuminori Yokogawa told reporters on Wednesday that he did not care which position he played so long as he got more playing time (at this point, it will probably be first and the outfield).  Yokogawa is currently working out with a group of players, including Teppei, in Tateyama, Chiba.

Senichi Hoshino feels Mahjong might help players, particularly catchers, learn how to read opponents better.
