Shohei Tateyama (coming back from surgery to correct a blood flow problem in his fingers) spoke to reporters today and said that his rehab was going well and that he might be able to toss a bullpen session on the first day of spring camp.
Tateyama temporary returned from workouts in Hawaii on Wednesday and spent some time working with team physical director Satoshi Kurita at the Toda training facilities in Saitama.
3rd round draft pick Wataru Hiyane will most likely start the year at Ichi-gun spring camp (the Swallows are high on his speed). He may even make it into the mix as a candidate for the starting job in center.
In addition to Hiyane, 2nd round draft Ryohei Kiya, 4th round draft pick Yuya Ota, and 6th round draft pick Masato Furuno will also probably begin the year at Ichi-gun spring camp.
