Masahiko Morifuku worked out in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima today and told reporters that one of the areas he was working on was strengthening his lower body after feeling some weakness in the area during the summer last year.  His workouts today included lower body strengthening exercises and running in the morning and weight training in the afternoon.

Morifuku is currently working out with a group of other players that include Toshiya Sugiuchi (YOM), Minoru Iwata (HAN), and Katsuki Yamazaki.

The 2011 draft class spent a part of their day off today picking up garbage along the beach near the player dorm.

Koji Akiyama told reporters, before heading out to Guam on Thursday, that his contract negotiations with the team were already done.  Nikkan Sports figures they agreed to a three-year extension.

1st round draft pick Shota Takeda set up a mirror near him and tossed 100 baseball into a net at a distance of about 10 meters during evening workouts.

5th round draft pick Shinya Kayama tossed 26 pitches in the bullpen (standings catch, only fastballs) on Thursday.

The Hawks announced today that they will begin selling specially discounted tickets to six night games in April on January 14.
