Seibu Lions

The second block of training camp for the 2011 draft class ended on Sunday.

1st round draft pick Ken Togame stayed back after general practices for extra workouts (he spent some time throwing into a net).  Togame is hoping to toss a bullpen session some time during the third block of training camp.

3rd round draft pick Hitoto Komazuki told reporters on Saturday that he started eating weeds/grass growing near/on baseball fields while waiting to play a game in Junior High (he was apparently feeling a little hungry).  Komazuki is currently slated to move from catcher to outfielder.

Rakuten Eagles

Akinori Iwamura worked out at Ginowan Stadium in Okinawa on Saturday.  Workouts lasted about three hours and included running, playing catch, and BP.

Takahiro Shiomi tossed 30 pitches in the bullpen on Saturday (standing catcher) and told reporters that he wanted to toss around 1,400 pitches during spring camp.

Akihisa Makida could end up competing with Teppei for the starting job in left since Luis Terrero will likely take over in right.

Shinya Okamoto has decided to retire and plans to open up a restaurant in Sendai.  A retirement ceremony/talk session for Okamoto will be held at the YMCA Asia Youth Center on 1/21.

Chiba Lotte Marines

Hiroki Ueno tossed 30 pitches in the bullpen on Sunday (standing catcher).
