Softbank Hawks

BP pitcher Makoto Kojima and Soichiro Tateoka left for Saipan with Yuichi Honda on Monday.


The Hawks' advanced scorers held a meeting at Yahoo Dome on Monday and pointed to the Orix Buffaloes as a team to watch out for this year.  As such, they once again placed Sadaharu Sato in charge of the Buffaloes and will most likely have him keep an eye on the team from the start of spring camp.


Sadaharu Oh attended a Japan Athlete Forums' council meeting on Monday.  Oh is an advisor for the group.

Rakuten Eagles

Motohiro Shima and a group of other players, including Shinichiro Koyama, Tomohiro Tsuchiya, and Kazuya  Takahori, are currently working out in Uruma, Okinawa.


Sponichi reports there is a chance the Eagles may use Darrell Rasner as their closer in 2012 because they have not been able to find any suitable foreign pitchers.

Orix Buffaloes

The Buffaloes held a moment of silence for victims of both the Great Hanshin Earthquake and the Tohoku Earthquake at 12:00 noon during practices at Hotto Motto Field today.

Today marks the 17th anniversary of the Great Hanshin Earthquake.


Yuki Nishi worked out in Kobe today and told reporters that he has been working on strengthening his lower body this winter.


Kazuki Kondo is working his way back from right elbow surgery he had in November 2011.  He told reporters on Monday that is hoping to do another 10-hour feng shui walk, like the one he did in December 2009, before the end of the month.

Chiba Lotte Marines

Kei Hosoya's wife gave birth to the couple's first child, a girl weighing 3,390 grams, at 1:21pm today.


Shoitsu Omatsu, Toshiaki Imae, Shunichi Nemoto, and Shota Ishimine worked out in Miyakojima, Okinawa today.  Their schedule for the day: outdoor practices from 10am to 5pm; two hours of practices after dinner; one hour meeting at the player hotel.
