According to Daily Sports, Kenjiro Nomura is thinking about giving 1st round draft pick Yusuke Nomura a practice game start on 2/14 (vs Hanshin). He also thinks Nomura will do fine during spring camp and will be able to make his way into the starting rotation.
Nikkan Sports points out that an exhibition game start on 2/18 (vs Yomiuri) is also a possible.
2nd round draft pick Ryosuke Kikuchi and 4th round draft pick Shohei Habu will also likely start at Ichi-gun spring camp.
Shota Dobayashi has managed to gain five kilograms this winter and now weighs 84kg.
Nomura is hoping that one of the following three players figures out a way to step up in order provide the team with more consistency over the course of an entire season: Takahiro Iwamoto, Soichiro Amaya, and Yoshihiro Maru.
The three, in addition to Ryuhei Matsuyama and 4th round draft pick Habu could compete for one of three available outfield spots (Jun Hirose and Nick Stavinoha will probably get the other two)
The 2011 draft class took a battery of fitness tests today.
