The Swallows have decided to make renovations to Toda Field (Ni-gun facility). Team president Tsuyoshi Kinugasa and Yakult honsha president Takashige Negishi visited the field today to check on current conditions. Construction will begin in February.
Sections that will be addressed: outfield fence, bullpens, visiting team locker room, portions of the artificial and en-tou-cas surfaces, seating section behind home plate, and building a women's bathroom. A netting in left will also be installed in November.
Hitoshi Yamamoto is thinking about trying waterfall meditation at a temple near Tokyo sometime early next week. Yamamoto is currently in Guam and is scheduled to return on Saturday (1/21).
Kenichi Matsuoka threw about 50 pitches in the bullpen on Thursday (standing catcher). He later told reporters he wanted to brush up on his fastball and fork and completely learn how to throw a shuto during spring camp.
