Daiki Enokida threw 40 pitches (including off-speed pitches) in the bullpen on Saturday (standing catcher).  It was his second session in as many days.

Minoru Iwata closed out his training session with Toshiya Sugiuchi (YOM) in Kagoshima on Thursday and began his workouts in Osaka on Friday.  Iwata is hoping for another chance at pitching in the WBC -- he made the 2009 team as an alternate for Hiroki Kuroda and pitched two games in relief and also injured his left shoulder.

Takumi Akiyama tossed 35 pitches in the bullpen on Friday (standing catcher).  And for now, it seems he may start things off at Ichi-gun spring camp.

1st round draft pick Hayata Ito and 4th round draft pick Kazuo Ito could both start things off at Ichi-gun spring camp.

On Friday, Kazuo Ito tossed about 30 pitches (including curves and sliders) in the bullpen (standing catcher).

2nd round draft pick Hiroaki Saiuchi started practicing with the rest of the 2011 draft class on Friday after spend the first three blocks of workouts coming back from a right ankle sprain.

Keiichi Hirano worked out with Michihiro Ogasawara (YOM) on Friday (from January 14 to January 20).  Hirano has now spent time working out with Ogasawara during the off-season five years in a row.

Team owner Shinya Sakai plans to visit spring camp around February 12 for a chance to watch 1st round draft pick Ito make his "debut" -- the Tigers have a practice game scheduled against the Nippon Ham Fighters on February 12.

Tatsuya Kojima appeared on Sun TV's Nekketsu! Tigers-to on Friday and vowed to work on his control and improve his walk rate this season.  Kojima walked 28 batters last season over 48.1 innings of work.

The media learned on Friday that Takahiro Arai has received an invite to participate in the March 10 charity game at Tokyo Dome.  The Tigers are cool with it.
