by on Jan.22, 2012 @ 11:56 pm, under NPB

The Buffaloes released their player assignments for spring camp today.

Mamoru Kishida held an charity event in Osaka today.  About 30 children/parents helped him pack rice into bags, after which they were treated to curry rice.

The packaged rice will be sold with a portion of the revenue going toward relief efforts in northern Japan.  This is part of Kishida's rice project.

According to Nikkan Sports, Taiki Mitsumata, Mitsutaka Goto, Keiji Obiki, Koji Yamasaki, 1st round draft pick Ryoichi Adachi, 2nd round draft pick Takuya Shimada, and 7th round draft pick Shuhei Kojima will be competing for starting jobs at second and short.

Akinobu Okada is glad Yu Darvish is leaving the NPB, not only because he is happy for him, but also because it means less competition in the Pacific league.

Okada also feels Dae-Ho Lee does not have to lose any weight, so long as he can move around on his feet.

Ikusei 2nd round draft pick Shoki Kakihara has been using a training bat that weighs two kilograms and is one meter long since high school.
