Seibu Lions

Kazuhisa Makita tossed a bullpen session alongside 2nd round draft pick Hirotaka Koishi on Monday.

Tatsuya Oishi would love a shot at pitching against Hiroshima Carp (and former Waseda teammate) Yuya Fukui when the teams meet for two practice games on February 22 and 23.

Kimiyasu Kudo joins Nikkan Sports as a baseball analyst.

Orix Buffaloes

4th round draft pick Tomoyuki Kaida threw 45 pitches in the bullpen on Monday.  This was the first day he also threw to a squatting catcher.

Takahiro Okada, Shunta, and Hiraku Ito returned from their mini training camp in Los Angeles on Monday.  Okada told reporters that Shigetoshi Hasegawa acted as their BP pitcher four times and that he offered them valuable advice from a pitcher's perspective.

Ni-gun manager Hiromasa Arai's daughter, Kiko, was selected Miss Nippon.

Rakuten Eagles

The Eagles released their player assignments for spring camp on Monday.

Masahiro Tanaka visited Kleenex Stadium on Monday in order to get his things together for spring camp.  Tanaka had been working out with a group of players, including Ryohei Isaka, in Chiba.  He also told reporters he was feeling much better than last year.

Senichi Hoshino does not mind if players bring their wives/girlfriends to spring camp.

Hoshino also plans to spend a lot of time in the bullpen -- he will have head coach Koichi Tabuchi and batting coach Hiromoto Okubo handle the rest.

Teppei apparently has three goals for the 2012: stay healthy enough to play out a full season; bat .300; and steal 20 bases.
