The Hawks announced today that 4th round draft pick Naoki Shirane requires surgery on his right elbow after a medical exam revealed an injury to his tibial collateral ligament, a bone spur, and ulnar neuropathy.
Shirane is scheduled to go under the knife on February 2. After that, he will undergo two weeks of rehab before rejoining the team in Miyazaki for spring camp.
