1st round draft pick Ryoichi Adachi injured his right thumb during base-running practices today. He was examined at a hospital in Miyakojima and diagnosed with fracture in his right thumb. No word on how much time he will be out, but at this point it seems likely he will miss opening day. Adachi will be re-examined at a hospital in Kobe tomorrow.
Adachi suffered the injury when he jammed his thumb into a base while sliding.
UPDATE @ 10:08pm - Adachi will leave camp for Kobe on Sunday and will get his thumb re-examined on Monday. Whether or not he goes under the knife will depend on his examination on Monday.
