Matsuzaka also sat down with pitching coach Bob McClure and decided he will begin regular, but modified, workouts with the other pitchers.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka started working out in Florida on Tuesday and said to reporters, "If you do not put up results [in this sport] you will disappear.  I will take this season very seriously."

===

Hisashi Iwakuma had a chance to watch other pitchers toss bullpen sessions on Tuesday.

"I was wondering how hard others were throwing and what kind of they were throwing at," said Iwakuma.  "They [actually] are not throwing that hard.  That made me think that I need to make some adjustments."

Iwakuma is scheduled to toss another bullpen on Wednesday.

Sponichi mentions that Seattle Mariners' bench coach Robby Thompson wants Munenori Kawasaki to learn how to play second and third as well.

Kawasaki worked out for about three hours on Tuesday.  His workouts included batting practice, fielding practice at third and short, and indoor batting practice in the cages.

According to SponichiTomochika Tsuboi (37) will be playing for the Yuma Scorpions and is scheduled to join them on February 16 (February 17 Japan time).

Tsuboi apparently decided to head to the US after he failed to receive offers from teams in Japan.
