The Japan Amateur Baseball Association held a trustees meeting on Tuesday to set the 2012 budget. They also decided to set aside 5M yen for relief efforts in northern Japan. While nothing has been set in stone yet, the Association is thinking about playing charity games in regions that were hit by the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake/Tsunami in August. Baseball clinics are also being considered.
The media learned on Tuesday that Asia University and Chuo University are thinking about playing a charity game at Okinawa Cellular Stadium Naha on March 11, the one-year anniversary of the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake/Tsunami. Assuming a game is played, Okinawa-born Nao Higashihama (Asia) and Yosuke Shimabukuro (Chuo) could end up being starters for the game.
If the universities can gain proper approval, they may also donate ticket sales to relief efforts in northern Japan.
