2/16/2012: Takashi Saito, Kosuke Fukudome, Junichi Tazawa

Takashi Saito celebrated his 42nd birthday on Tuesday.  Before practices, he spoke to Arizona Diamondbacks' manager Kirk Gibson for about fifteen minutes.

Saito is planning to work on throwing his two-seamer to left-handed batters; he also wants to learn how to throw a change-up and spent some time asking Joe Saunders about it while playing catch with him on Wednesday.

Kosuke Fukudome updated his blog on Wednesday and told fans he was relieved a deal got done and that he plans to leave for the US some time this week.

Junichi Tazawa started working out in Fort Myers on Tuesday.  He also threw thirty-six pitches in the bullpen.

Hisashi Iwakuma threw forty-four pitches (fastball, two-seamer, slider, curve, fork) in the bullpen on Wednesday.

This was Iwakuma's second bullpen session since the start of Spring Training.  His first session had a ten-minute limit.

Munenori Kawasaki took fielding practice at second on Wednesday.
