Orix Buffaloes vs Samsung Lions (@ Onnason)

Lions 7 - Buffaloes 3

  • Hiroshi Kisanuki started the game for the Buffaloes and allowed 5 runs over three innings of work.  He also walked/hit three. [Sanspo]
  • Satoshi Komatsu gave up two runs on four hits over three innings of work. [Nikkan Sports, Sports Hochi Osaka]
  • Dae-Ho Lee started at first and batted fourth.  He hit two doubles in consecutive at bats, one in the 2nd inning down the third base line and another in the 4th inning to right-center; he also came around to score both times. [Sanspo, Nikkan Sports]

  • Yuki Kuniyoshi entered the game in the 6th inning and did not allow a hit or a run over three innings of work.  He faced ten batters, threw thirty-five pitches, and topped out at 143km/h. [Sanspo, Nikkan Sports, Sanspo, Sponichi]
  • Alex Ramirez went 1-for-2 with a double.  With no one on and two out in the 6th inning, Ramirez entered the game as a pinch-hitter and hit a double to left.  He hit into a bases loaded, one out double play during his next at bat. [Sponichi]
  • The Bay Stars stole seven bases:  Sho Aranami stole second and third after reaching on a lead-off single to right in the 1st inning and then scored on a single to right by Takehiro Ishikawa; Ishikawa and Hichori Morimoto also stole a base in the 1st inning; Atsushi Kita stole a base in the 2nd inning; and Aranami stole his third base of he game in the third inning.  [Sponichi, Sanspo]

  • Hirokazu Sawamura started the game for the Giants and tossed two shutout innings while allowing one infield hit.  He threw a total twenty-eight pitches, struck out two, and topped out at 151km/h.  And of the twenty-eight pitches he threw, fourteen were off-speed pitches.   • Scott Mathieson entered the game in the 5th inning for the Giants and once again struggled with his control -- he walked two in a row after going to a full count, then struck out Motohiro Shima and got Toshihito Abe to hit into a double play. [Sponichi]
  • Kohei Hasebe started the game for the Eagles and gave up four runs on three hits and three walks over two innings of work.  Hasebe loaded the bases in the 1st inning on a hit and two walks before surrendering a bases-clearing double to Shuichi Murata.  He also gave up a solo homer to John Bowker in the 2nd inning.  Hasebe hovered in the 120km/h to 130km/h range and did not throw too many above 130km/h.   • Shuichi Murata (YOM) started at third and batted fourth.  He went 1-for-4 with three RBI and two strikeouts: with the bases loaded and no out in the 1st, he hit a bases-clearing double to right-center off Kohei Hasebe. [Sponichi]
  • Taishi Ota (YOM) started in center and batted sixth.  He went hitless in his first three trips to the plate before hitting a double to right-center in the 8th inning.  It was his first hit in eleven trips to the plate. [Sanspo]
  • Luis Terrero (RAK) was the starting DH and batted fourth.  Terrero was hitless in his first three trips to the plate before hitting a single to right in the 8th inning with a runner on first and two out. [Nikkan Sports]
  • Ginji (RAK) entered the game partway through and went 1-for-2: ground out to second in the 7th with runners on first and third and one out; and a single to center in the 9th innings with two out. [Nikkan Sports]

  • Sho Iwasaki was one of the starters and tossed four shutout innings while allowing three hits.  Iwasaki loaded the bases in the 2nd innings with one out but managed to wriggle out unscathed with a double play. [Daily Sports]
  • Kenji Otonari tossed two perfect innings. [Sanspo]
  • Angel Castro also tossed two perfect innings.  He hit 152km/h. [Nikkan Sports, Sports Hochi Osaka]
  • Kenji Akashi started at short and batted sixth.  He went 2-for-3 with one stolen base: hit a double to right in his first at bat and a single to right in his third at bat (and a stolen base).  Yuya Hasegawa also collected two hits and stole a base. [Sanspo, Nikkan Sports]
