  • Kazuhisa Makita started the game for the Lions and gave up two runs on four hits over three innings of work.  All two runs came on just nine pitches in the 1st inning (beginning with the lead-off batter: double, walk, double, sac fly to center.  Seems Makita may have had some trouble adjusting to the mound.   • Kazuhisa Ishii gave up a run (unearned) over two innings of work. [Nikkan Sports]
  • 4th round draft pick Tomoyuki Kaida entered the game in the 3rd inning and allowed one run on three hits over three innings of work. [Nikkan Sports]
  • Shohei Tsukahara entered the game in the 6th inning and tossed two shutout innings while allowing three hits.  He also managed to get himself in to and out of a runners on second and third and no out jam in the 7th inning. [Nikkan Sports]
  • Dae-Ho Lee (ORI) went 1-for-2 with one RBI: sac fly to center in the 1st inning, single to center in the 2nd inning, and line out to third in the 4th inning. [Sanspo, Nikkan Sports]
  • Chris Carter (SEI) collected two hits: pinch-hit single to center in the 7th inning and a double to right in the 9th inning.  Carter told reporters he was playing at about 50% and planned to be at 100% by opening day. [Sanspo, Nikkan Sports]

  • Daiki Kiyohara started the game and allowed five runs on six hits over three innings of work.  Akira Iwamoto relieved Kiyohara and tossed two shutout innings -- he struck out four of the six batters he faced. [Daily Sports]
  • 3rd round draft pick Naoto Nishida recorded a game-winning RBI when he hit a single to left with a runner on second and one out in the 9th inning.  Nishida entered the game as a pinch-runner in the 5th and took over at short on defense.  [Nikkan Sports, Sanspo]
