  • Bobby Keppel started the game and allowed two runs (none earned) on two hits and two walks/HBPs over three innings of work.  He also struck out two. [Sports Hochi]
  • Mitsuo Yoshikawa entered the game in the 4th inning and did not allow a run or a hit over two innings of work. [Daily Sports]
  • Dai-Kang Yoh started in center and batted sixth.  He went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI: with runners on first and second and two out in the 1st inning, RBI single to right; with a runner on second and two out in the 3rd inning, RBI single to right; ground out to short, strikeout. [Sanspo]
  • 7th round draft pick Takumi Oshima entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the 6th inning with a runner on first and no out and struck out looking. [Daily Sports]
  • Sho Nakata started in left and batted fourth.  He went 3-for-5: infield single, double to center, single to left, strikeout, ground out to third.  He ended Saturday's game with hits in his last three trips to the plate, giving him, at one point, a string of hits in six on consecutive games. Reds 1 - Whites 1 (six inning game)

  • Hirokazu Shiranita started the game for the Whites and allowed one run on three hits over three innings of work. [Sanspo]
  • Ken Nishimura tossed a shutout inning in relief for the Whites. [Sanspo]
  • Masanori Fujihara entered the game in the 6th inning for the Whites and tossed a shutout inning.  Fujihara did allow a lead-off single to Takashi Shimizu, but then retired the next three batters.  He also struck out the last batter he faced on three pitches: 1st round draft pick Hayato Ito.   • Kyuji Fujikawa entered the game in the 4th inning and tossed a shutout inning in relief (he retired the side in order).  He also struck out Yamato and Matt Murton.  Fujikawa topped out at 146km/h and threw a slow curve that was clocked at 111km/h. [Daily Sports, Nikkan Sports]
  • Craig Brazell started in left and batted fifth.  He drove in the lone run for the Whites in the 1st inning and struck out swinging in the 4th inning.  The Reds scored their run on a ground out in the 3rd inning. [Daily Sports, Sanspo]
  • Keiichi Hirano hit a double to right off Takumi Akiyama in the 1st inning (came around to score on Craig Brazell's double) and reached on a bunt single in the 3rd inning. [Sanspo]

  • Tomoaki Kanemoto was the starting DH and batted fourth for the Whites.  He walked and flied out to first. [Sanspo]
  • 1st round draft pick Hayata Ito started in left and batted first for the Reds.  He went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.  Ito also threw out Tomoaki Kanemoto at third base on a line drive single to left in the 1st inning with runners on first and third and two out (Kanemoto was the runner on first).  In the 5th inning, with a runner on first and two out, a ball dropped in between Ito and shortstop Haruki Kurose; Ito quickly recovered and threw out a runner at home plate.
