Yoshitaka Hashimoto's wife gave birth to the couple's second child, a boy weighing 3,180 grams, at a hospital in Fukuoka on February 27.

===

Toshiya Nakashima is tweaking his hitting mechanics by placing more/all of his weight on his back leg.  Through last year, the split was around 60-40 on his back leg.

===

Fuminori Yokogawa worked out at Ni-gun today because of a fever.

===

2nd round draft pick Yoshinao Kamata will most likely make his Kyoiku League debut on March 11 against the Yomiuri Giants.

===

Senichi Hoshino is thinking about staying back in Okinawa next year after spring camp instead of returning to Sendai once before heading back out on the road to play exhibition games to avoid the large changes in climate.

Hoshino's comments on Kei Igawa on Wednesday:

"I think the fact that [pitching coach Yoshinori Sato] knows [Igawa] when things were good is big.  Yoshi has looked at old footage when Igawa was pitching well and has looked at recent footage and is ready to help him out.  I do not think anyone other than Yoshi can help him maximize his potential."

The Eagles have also made it known they are interested.  With regards to that, Hoshino said, "[Igawa] needs to make a decision.  After that, it is up to the organization."
