The media learned on Friday that the Hanshin Tigers are now likely to accept Starting Pitcher Announcements.
Yutaka Wada, team owner Shinya Sakai, and a number of other officials met on Friday to discuss Starting Pitcher Announcements. Wada may have helped influence the front office's general attitude toward the rule after telling the group that knowing opponent starters in advance would be advantageous for the Tigers because it would allow him to field the best possible team.
The Central League is scheduled to put the rule change to a vote during a special board of directors meeting on March 8. The Tigers were reportedly the only team against the change.
