The Chunichi Dragons are scheduled to play a practice game against the Yokohama Bay Stars at Nagoya Stadium on Tuesday (no spectators).  Shinji Iwata is lined up to start the game for the Dragons.

Maximo Nelson worked out at Nagoya Stadium today.  He later told reporters that opening day did not look good and that he might be able to rejoin the Ichi-gun team one or two weeks after that.  If everything goes smoothly, he could toss a bullpen session some time next week.

According to team officials, Nelson was diagnosed with inflammation in his right rotator cuff during a hospital examination in late February.  Assuming no setbacks, he could be ready to pitch in games in about three to four weeks.

Kazuki Yoshimi was not particularly happy about his control during his outing against the Hiroshima Carp on Sunday: nine of the thirty-one pitches he threw went for balls.

Morimichi Takagi does not plan to duck away from fans just because the team is losing -- if he is going to greet fans and speak to them when the team wins, he will do the same when the team loses.  After yesterday's game and loss, he and the rest of the team returned to the field to acknowledge the fans and their loss.

The Dragons invited about 7,000 school kids from Nagoya to their exhibition game on Sunday.
