Norichika Aoki started in left and batted eighth.  He went 1-for-3: ground out to first, ground out to short, infield single.  Aoki was replaced on defense in the 6th inning. [Nikkan Sports]

Takashi Saito jokingly blamed the bees on his unsatisfactory outing on Sunday.

Yoshinori Tateyama tossed early morning batting practice on Monday (some time around 8:30am) and threw about thirty-five pitches and allowed at least one-could be hit.  He also worked on his signs with the catcher.

Tsuyoshi Wada threw fifteen fastballs off a partial incline during practice on Monday.  Assuming no problems, he will be allowed to toss a full bullpen session within the next few days.

During bunt practices on Sunday, Yu Darvish let slip the word "F**k" when his bunt attempt down the first base line rolled into foul territory.  He also took eleven swings during batting practice and collected four could-be hits.

On Monday, Darvish threw forty-three pitches in the bullpen (all from the set position).  He took a pause every now and then during the session to speak to pitching coach Mike Maddux, who watched over the session.  Staff members also stood in against Darvish, after about thirty pitches, to set game-like conditions.

TBS/MBS have decided to broadcast Darvish's exhibition game out on March 7 (March 8 in Japan).  The broadcast will begin at 4:45am and will tentatively end at 5:30am.

NHK BS1 has already announced they will provide coverage between 4:30am and 5:49am.

Darvish's next start, after the March 7, will be against the Cleveland Indians on March 13.  He will likely pitch on five days of rest until the start of the season.

And Darvish has signed an exclusive deal with Topps for his autographed cards (via Nikkan Sports).
