Morimichi Takagi told reporters on Wednesday that while 1st round draft pick Shuhei Takahashi could end up making the active roster on opening day, he probably will not make the opening day starting line-up (at this point anyway).

"I want to keep using [Takahashi].  It is not so much about the results, but rather how he handles himself while playing [at the Ichi-gun level]," said Takagi.  He added, "[Takahashi] will not make the opening day starting line-up.  The question is whether we can use him as a pinch-hitter.  That is the hope.  He is holding his own in comparison to other young players."

So the hope at this point is for Takahashi to make the active roster as a pinch-hitter.

Pitching coach Hiroshi Gondo is hoping to cut the pitching staff down to fifteen to sixteen candidates by the end of March 15 and then down to twelve during a six game stretch that begins on March 20.

Isn’t it relatively easy to move players between Ni-gun and Ichi-gun? Is there a limited number of moves that can be made between the two?
Why would they keep Takahashi on the bench?
He’s only 18, he needs to play.
Can they keep him at Ni-gun and bring him up for spot starts or bench time at Ichi-gun frequently?

No restriction except that at least 10 days have to pass from the last demotion for another call-up.
