According to Sponichi, Yuki Kuniyoshi may have a slight lead over Kentaro Takasaki for the opening day start since he had a better outing this weekend:

Kuniyoshi - 5 IP, 80 NP, 20 BF, 5 H, 7 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER
Takasaki - 4 IP, 54 NP, 17 BF, 4 H (1 HR), 2 SO, 1 BB, 1 R, ER

Kiyoshi Nakahata hinted to reporters that outings for both pitchers this weekend would be important.

Wow. Slim pickings. But, I do think they will be better this year. And, yes; I do say that every preseason.

They really should be. I know Alex Ramirez has his best days behind him, but I think it will have a positive effect for the whole roster. Losing Murata stings some, but I’m also a Cardinals fan. We just lost Albert Pujols. It could be worse.

Unless Hiroshima is worse, Yokohama will finish 6th. I do not know where Mobage fans find that optimism every spring.
