Ryosuke Miyaguni struck out nine Oakland A's on Sunday.  Nikkan Sports notes that the last Japanese pitcher to strikeout at least nine MLB batters during a game was Kazuhisa Kawaguchi with ten against the Baltimore Orioles on October 27, 1984.  The last Yomiuri Giants' pitcher: Takumi Otomo, ten strikeouts against the LA Dodgers on October 19, 1956.  At nineteen, Miyaguni is also the first Japanese pitcher under twenty to record nine or more strikeouts since Eiji Sawamura struck out nine on November 20, 1934 at the age of seventeen and nine months.

The Giants announced Dream Box 2012 and their plan to invite at least ten people that are either victims of the Tohoku Earthquake, people with disabilities, or children living in care facilities.

The team also announced that Toshiya Sugiuchi will be donating 1,000 yen to a relief fund for every pitch he throws this season.  The the money will then be used to help kids that were victims of the Tohoku Earthquake get back to playing baseball.

Nippon TV currently does not plan on changing their 2012 Yomiuri Giants' broadcast schedule because of the recent contract issues.

Miyaguni is really special after all. Even without the velocity, he managed to confuse a whole major league team at only 19.
