Softbank Hawks

Brad Penny underwent an MRI on his right shoulder today.  Tests revealed no significant injuries.  Penny's schedule moving forward is unknown at this point in time.

Koji Akiyama celebrated his fiftieth birthday today.

The Hawks announced two Industrial League games today: vs JX-ENEOS on April 30 and vs J Project on May 15.  Both games will take place at Gannosu Field.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Yuya Ishii was taken off the active roster today with dizzy spells.  Ishii first started to complain about dizzy spells on March 31 and was examined at a hospital on April 2.  The team is hopeful that he will be able to return to the active roster within the ten day minimum.

Slow Starter?  Sho Nakata recorded his first hit of the 2012 season in his twenty-fifth trip to the plate (homer to left).  Last year, Nakata did not record his first hit until his twentieth trip to the plate (single to center).

Seibu Lions

Hisanobu Watanabe on how he planned to use Enrique Gonzalez after he blew another lead in the 9th inning tonight: "I need to think about it.  Although I do plan to continue using him..."

Watanabe spent some time giving Hideaki Wakui some pointers during a bullpen session on Thursday.  Watanabe also had Wakui make throws from third to first after his session.

The Lion announced that managers Hisanobu Watanabe (SEI) and Koji Akiyama (SOF) will participate in first pitch ceremonies on Kimiyasu Kudo Day on April 7: Akiyama will get into the batter's box and Watanabe will be the catcher with Kudo throwing out the first pitch.

Orix Buffaloes

According to Sponichi, Kei Igawa tossed about seventy pitches in the bullpen on Wednesday and sixty-one pitches in the bullpen on Thursday.  He threw about seventy pitches in the bullpen at Kyocera Dome today and might have a chance to toss batting practice at Ichi-gun on April 8 before heading back to Ni-gun to continue his preparations.

The Buffaloes are homerless through their first five games of the season, which is a first since they started the 1959 season without a homer in their first seven games.

Chiba Lotte Marines

Masaichi Kaneda visited the Marines before tonight's game at QVC Marine.
