Notes

An elementary school girl threw out the ceremonial first pitch as part of Girls Night at Tokyo Dome -- she was selected out of a group of three hundred women.

Chunichi: Asao set a new NPB record with his 142nd career Hold. ... Blanco made the starting line-up for the first time this season.

Yomiuri: The Giants have zero homers through their first ten games of the season.

Very cool, site you have. Im a Tokyo Giants fan living in America. Just got into the team the last few years. Quick question…how come the game ended in a tie after only 9 innings? Dont they go to 12? Keep up the great work.

Welcome to the site. Good to hear from another yakyu fan. You might catch a little flak for being a Giants fan though. Don’t take any of personally though.

As for why the game ended after nine: the three and a half hour rule that was introduced last year as a way to help conserve electricity, is still in effect this year. Only tie games that have not hit the three and a half hour mark after nine full will actually go into extra innings.

Aw good to hear. Its all good about getting slack about being a Giants fan. Im from Los Angeles and we HATE the San Franscisco Giants. My friends hate them sooo much though that they refuse to even root or recognize my love for the Yomiuri Giants lol. Either way, its all good…thats the nature of sports! Ganbatte Giants!

You seem kind of ignorant about Japanese baseball, so I was going to ignore you and say nothing about your “love” of the Giants, but now that I know you are also a Dodgers fan it is going to be harder to keep quiet. I grew up hating the Dodgers and rooting for the SF Giants (although I have always been more of an A’s fan), so I had the opposite problem regarding Yomiuri when I first came here. Probably if my wife and her family had not been anti-Kyojin Yokohama fans and if I had been a selfish, hateful, right-wing, war-loving, militaristic Japanese nationalist, I might have been naturally drawn to the Yomiuri Giants due to their name and uniform. Now I have a hard time liking San Francisco because I hate their name and colors. As for the Dodgers, my childhood hatred for them (and especially Orel Hershiser) has worn off and developed into more of a feeling of pity for that pathetic organization.
